The Leupold Mesa 10x50 is a solid position on the 10x50 class binoculars’ market. The level of its build quality and optics is more or less the same as in the case of very well-known Konica-Minolta Activia and Nikon Action EX.

Swarovski Optik has just anounced the introduction of two new top class and roof prisms binoculars belonging to EL SWAROVISION series. These are 10x50 and 12x50 models.

The Eschenbach binoculars from the Trophy series can be divided into three groups: marked with AS/P, AS/D and AS/F letters. The first are Porro prismatic devices and include models with the following parameters: 8x40, 10x50 and 8x56. .

Pentax announced two new binocular series to the DCF line-up. Each heavy-duty DCF series roof-prism binocular, the Pentax 9x32 DCF BC and the 9x42 DCF BR, features high-performance optics, a waterproof construction allowing fresh-water rinsing, and an ergonomic body design for a comfortable hold.

The Simmons company, although taken over by Meade, is still present on the market, offering binoculars, spotting scopes and riflescopes. The Wilderness series includes cheap Porro and roof prism binoculars.

The Sidewinder series consisted of two roof prism 8x42 and 10x42 models. The prisms were made of BaK-4 glass and were phase correction coated. The binoculars were produced in China.

The Endurance II series is a set of binoculars with a 10x magnification and front lenses with a diameter of 42 mm. According to the producer it is a perfect daytime instrument. Good optical properties were reached because several technologies have been integrated here.

Kowa is a Japanese manufacturer with quite modest but very well-known offer. Its main part consists mainly of instruments for ornithologists. In 2007 its offer was enlarged by binoculars with objective lenses 44 mm in diameter.

Heralded in February and available from September 2007 in shops, the Steiner Night Hunter XP 8x44 is a set of binoculars with rare parameters. Eight times multiplication and the objective lens’ diameter amounting to 44 mm make the exit pupil as large as 5.5 mm.

Eschenbach farlux® selector D 8.5x45 B is a relatively new pair of binoculars, launched in 2007. This roof prism instrument is phase correction coated with prisms made of BaK-4 glass. Additionally, a new kind of coatings was used – they are called “naturebright” and are supposed to ensure a splendid transmission and colour rendition level.

The Weavers Grand Slam are a series of binoculars including 8.5x45 and 10.5x45 roof prism models equipped with rubber-padded, waterproof and nitrogen-filled casing. The optics additionally features good quality coatings on lenses and prisms and the latter are additionally phase correction coated.

The porro prismatic Swift Audubon ED 8.5x44 model includes low dispersion ED glass in the objective lens which task is to fight against the chromatic and spherical aberration and raising the contrast level by 5-10% compared to normal binoculars.

Most of the binoculars on Minox’s offer are roof prism instruments. Among them you can find, though, two porroprismatic exceptions: a BD 8x44 BP and a BD 10x44 BP. The producer ensures that only a Porro construction can provide two important features. Firstly, the transmission of such a device is supposed to reach as much as 94.5% and secondly, when objective lenses are further apart the image is supposed to be 3-D in an exceptional way.

The Fomei Leader 8x56 DCF is one of the newest binoculars made by a Czech company which orders its products in Chinese and Japanese factories. The 8x56 DCF model is a cheap pair of binoculars produced in China. It sports Schmidt-Pechan roof prisms made of BaK-4 glass and it comes with a three-year-long guarantee.

The Swift Optics 828 HHS Audubon 8.5x44 binoculars is one of the most prominent products of the Swift company. The “HHS” acronym is a proof of it as it means nothing else than the initials of Humphrey H. Swift, the late managing director of Swift Instruments; the 8.5x44 model was also his last original design.
