Cons: I have the original 10 x 42s not the lighter model. They weigh a ton, but it doesn\'t bother me as I am 6\' 2\" tall and weigh 14 stones, so I find them very easy to hold steady as they have much more inertia than lighter bins, so resist minor tremors etc.
Pros: Fantastic build quality, razor sharp optics across the whole field. Telegraph poles look straight even at the edge of the visual field. Very good eye relief so I get no vignetting whatsoever with my glasses on. I find them beautifully balanced and as I said the extra weight actually makes them easier to hold steady than a smaller lighter pair of binoculars.
Summary: Nikon really did great job making what can only be described as a tank of a binocular. I am sure they are as rugged as they feel and I get great pleasure every time I go out bird watching with the beasts. I only paid £300 for them and they are in perfect condition. A bargain or what?!!!
