Cons: Heavy... expect neck and shoulder fatigue if worn for extended periods. Range finding reticle on mine is basically useless... not based on any standard and practical usage is questionable.

Pros: Built like a tank. Astoundingly clear optics, 3D sensation is incredible. IR detection is interesting relic from Cold War, adds intrinsic value. Adjustments are tight and smooth. Comes with fog/smoke filters for ocular lenses. Optional anti-laser coating on lenses at additional cost and time (like, twice the price of the binos and three months..) I declined that option. At night with moonlight, these have amazing capability and range.

Summary: I have owned these since 1998. They are my go-to optics because of their dependability and clarity. Night or day, the light transmission is astounding, better than anything else I have. I will never sell these gems.

Cons: Possibly only the weight/size ratio. This thing is heavy, but more on that below...

Pros: Fantastic build quality, with excellent optics and very smooth mechanics. Very relaxing view in all sorts of daylight conditions. The heavy weight is a small price to pay for durability in the field, which is something I really appreciate.

Summary: My best 7x40 porro by a wide margin (I sold my excellent Zeiss Jena DF 7x40 NVA binos shortly after getting this Romanian gem). Can be bought in near mint condition here and there, but given the iffy nature of availability through second hand channels, this model (and perhaps their 8x30 and other models too) should be distributed more widely in Europe in factory new condition.
