Cons: - Rubber lens covers are somewhat flimsy - Loss of sharpness towards the edges of the field - Considerable amount of stray light when looking towards the sun
Pros: + Lightweight and small + Fog and waterproof + Almost no chromatic aberration + Bright images and great depth perception + Easy to use with individual focusing
Summary: Surprisingly good pair of binoculars. Coatings and optical system seems to be quite good. They produce bright and contrast rich images with very nice colour rendition. There is almost no CA noticeable when looking through these binoculars. The only major optical downside is the considerable amount of stray light that occurs when looking towards objects close to the sun. They feel very well made, while remaining lightweight and handy at the same time. The lens covers don\'t seem to be as sturdy though. However, I assume a reputable company as Steiner will probably replace them if they should break eventually. The individual focusing is really easy to use. Once set these binocluars are in focus from medium distances to infinity. There is a second setting for close objects. There is no need to refocus during your observations. I found this especially handy while being on Safari with my wife. Since she does not share my interest in binoculars she could nevertheless enjoy the views without having to fiddle around with any focusing controls etc. I guess this feature makes them also ideal for children or elderly persons. Overall, at this price I can highly recommend these binocluars. The optical quality is of course inferior to your latest Swaros, Nikons etc. but the simple porro design in combination with what seems to be good coatings still delivers very bright images with nice 3D views.
