Cons: Main one for me is that it can show CA on high-contrast edges near the centre if eyes not placed exactly right in terms of IPD and eye cup position. Worth investigating O-rings to find best position between detents. Some lateral CA off-centre on high-contrast edges even with perfect eye position. Expensive. Some don\'t like focuser position but it\'s OK for me.
Pros: Colour saturation/accuracy, contrast and central sharpness better than any roof in x42 from Swaro or Zeiss. Does not roll off reds like most S or Z either. Beautifully built to last, plenty of ER for even the thickest spectacles. Nice focuser. More resistant to glare than any other alpha x42s.
Summary: Lovely binocular that regularly produces stunning views which show the full gamut of colour and contrast. Can trigger CA more than I would like but I can forgive that, though I wouldn\'t want it as my primary optic for looking at distant individual birds against a grey background. Can see more central detail on small distant objects using a tripod than any other 8x42 I have looked through.
