Owner since: more than 10 years
Price: DDR Mark 2
User profile: Amateur
Cons: Heavy, but still eminently usable.
Pros: Superb optical quality which has served me well for almost 40 years.
Summary: This was the top of the Carl Zeiss Jena range in the mid 1980s, and was not easy to track down an example for retail sale in the Gedrman Democratic Republic.

Pros: Bright to the edge. Easy to hold steady even though 12x. Wide immersive A.P.O.V. Slight warm bias which i like. Sharp almost to the edge. Exceptional build quality.
Summary: Very nice Astro Binocular, giving spectacular views, second only to my Zeiss 15x60 B.G.A.T.

Cons: Heavy
Pros: The image sharpness and feel of these old binoculars is hard to beat.
Summary: I bought a Nikon tripod mount that works well on the center focus rail and wouldn't be without these. Excellent for astronomy and tripod mounted nature watching. Gotta' be a hunk to carry them all day in the field. Love them.

Cons: Weigh a ton. No tripod thread. Relatively poor eye relief
Pros: Beautifully made. Excellent optics. I like the chunky feel in the hand. Bought recently second hand. 32 years old but still in pristine condition.
Summary: To get this performance from a new pair of 12 x 50 binoculars would cost about four times as much as I paid. The old porros have much more character as well in my opinion

Pros: The best all round binoculars I have ever owned...I have 3 different Leica bins but still use my Spezial Nobilems to this day.
Summary: Fabulous Optics and feel like a real pair of binoculars, these will out perform many of todays top makers....including some Leica. I would feel lost without them.

Cons: Color is on the warm side, bit yellow. Also a bit heavy and bulky
Pros: Clear image, not as sharp as my 12x50B Dodecarem, but nice nevertheless.
Summary: For its size, this is a good desgn binocular. Hard to reach the focus if you have smallish hands, but a very nice optic.

Cons: Case strap fixings not very solid
Pros: Brilliant optical quality for the price
Summary: A good wide field of view, bright to the edges due to the large prisms and very good in low light situations.
