Cons: Heavy
Pros: Very sharp image, ease of view/use, wide field of view
Summary: A heavy brick with the finest optical qualities. The very wide field of view gives a very immersive viewing experience. Some distortions towards the very edges are noticeable, but are unavoidable in such wide field systems. No, or only very very minor, chromatic aberrations are visible when bringing, for example, the full Moon towards the edge of the field. A direct comparison with a 7x50 Porro system by another German manufacturer shows that the 7x45 Zeiss is definitely sharper: on axis as well as off axis. A pleasure to look through - but requires some training when carrying around the neck because it is heavy.
